A local woman is urging others to report past incidents involving aggressive dogs after her pet was killed in a brutal attack at Exwick Playing Fields.
On December 21, Helen’s husband was walking their dog, Romeo, when the attack happened. The three dogs are known in the area for being aggressive. They reportedly attacked other dogs within an hour.
A woman was hospitalized with puncture wounds, and several dogs were injured. Sadly, two dogs, including Romeo, had to be put down.
A week later, police seized the three German Shepherds and are holding them in kennels. A woman in her 50s is being questioned, but no charges have been filed yet.
Helen used to walk her dogs at Exwick Playing Fields almost every day. She recalled a previous incident where her husband had to protect their small dogs from the same aggressive dogs. They didn’t report that incident since no harm was done.
Now, after losing Romeo, Helen is asking anyone who faced similar threats from these dogs to contact the police. She believes it’s important to gather evidence for a stronger case.
Helen emphasized that people should report any incidents, even minor ones. This evidence could help in future cases. She also mentioned that the dogs are still in kennels, which costs taxpayers money. She feels these dogs should be put down, but it requires a court order.
Police are still investigating the attacks but haven’t provided updates on the seized dogs. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police through their website or by calling 101 with the reference number 50240321127.
