Starcross: A retired teacher was hit by a train while walking with her husband. The incident happened near Starcross railway station earlier this month.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Powderham on January 18. They responded to reports of someone on the tracks. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 75-year-old Pamela Browne, a resident of Kenton. She was originally from Ealing. An inquest has started to investigate her death.
During the hearing at Exeter Coroners Court, the area coroner shared details. Pamela had not returned to her husband at their meeting point during their walk.
She was found shortly after being struck by the train. Authorities confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
The exact cause of death is still being determined. The inquest will continue with a full hearing scheduled for later.
British Transport Police stated the incident is not being treated as suspicious. They are preparing a file for the coroner.
