Exeter Northcott Theatre invites young actors aged 18-25 to audition for Romeo & Juliet. Join a professional cast in a major production from July 2-12.
Exeter: Shakespeare’s classic love story is coming to the Exeter Northcott Theatre. Young performers in Devon are getting a chance to shine.
Aspiring actors aged 18-25 can audition for ensemble roles in Romeo & Juliet. This production runs from July 2 to 12. Open auditions are set for March, marking the Northcott’s return to Shakespeare after over ten years.
The show will feature dancers aged 18-25 alongside five professional actors. Fifteen young performers will share the stage with the pros. This is the second drama directed by Martin Berry, the theatre’s Creative Director, after the successful premiere of The Commotion Time.
Martin Berry expressed excitement about the project. He believes Romeo & Juliet reflects young people’s experiences. He wants to give Devon’s talented youth a chance to perform on the iconic stage.
This production follows The Commotion Time, which included a community ensemble and choir. Thea Mackney, a 19-year-old ensemble member, encourages others to audition. She found her experience rewarding and believes it will be a great time.
Auditions will be held from March 3 to 7. Sign-ups are open until February 24. For more details, visit exeternorthcott.co.uk.
