Bridport: A care worker has been sentenced for sexually assaulting an elderly woman. The victim, in her 80s, was attacked in her own home.
Angelo Regis, 37, from Dorset, received a 12-year prison sentence. He admitted to attempted rape and sexual assault charges.
The assault happened on June 3, 2024. Regis locked the front door and followed the woman to the bathroom. He assaulted her there and then tried to rape her in her bedroom.
Two days later, the woman reported the incident to the police. Regis was arrested shortly after. DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
Detective Constable Lucy Johnson praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward. She emphasized the importance of supporting victims in such cases.
Regis abused his position as a caregiver, taking advantage of the woman’s vulnerability. Authorities are committed to investigating these serious offenses.
