Torquay: An 81-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a reversing car. Mary Gray was walking through the Marks and Spencer car park when the accident happened.

She was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth but sadly passed away on January 9. An inquest has opened to look into the details surrounding her death.

During the hearing, it was revealed that Mary was walking behind a slowly reversing vehicle. The driver, a man from Paignton, was unharmed.

Mary suffered severe head injuries from the fall. CPR was performed at the scene, but it wasn’t enough to save her. The coroner noted that her death was due to a brain hemorrhage caused by the fall.

Police are investigating the incident and are asking for witnesses to come forward. They want anyone with dashcam footage to help them understand what happened.

A section of the car park was closed for a forensic examination. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and the community is mourning the loss of Mary Gray.
