Dublin: A vulnerable man was robbed in broad daylight, and it’s shocking. Joshua, 23, was in town for a college trip when two women approached him. They asked for money, claiming they were hungry.

Joshua, who has Down Syndrome, didn’t have cash. So, they asked for his card instead. They took him to an ATM, but luckily, a shop employee noticed something was off.

When Joshua’s card got stuck, the shop manager intervened and helped him. But the women were waiting outside. They took him to another ATM and withdrew €500.

Ruth, Joshua’s mum, believes they targeted him because he’s vulnerable. After getting the money, they insisted he buy them food. Somehow, he managed to escape.

He didn’t call his mum right away, probably confused. He thought he was helping them. Although he seems okay now, Ruth is still shaken.

She knows that kids with Down Syndrome can react differently to trauma. The Gardai are looking into the incident, and it’s a reminder to stay alert.
