Two Dublin pubs have made it to the European Bar Guide’s top 100 list, showcasing the best drinking spots across Europe, with one ranking 14th overall.
The guide looks at five main factors when ranking bars. These include drink quality, style, atmosphere, amenities, and value for money. This year, four Irish pubs made the list, with two from Dublin.
John Kavanagh’s, known as The Gravediggers, is the highest-ranked Irish pub at 14th place. It’s famous for its Guinness and has been around since 1833. The pub has a unique charm, with no music or TV, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
Grogan’s, located on South William Street, has been a favorite since 1899. It’s known for its cozy vibe, great pints, and toasted sandwiches. Like The Gravediggers, it focuses on conversation rather than entertainment.
Tig Bhric, a rural pub in West Kerry, came in 28th. It has been family-owned since the 1890s and features its own brewery. Visitors can tour the brewery and enjoy craft beers by a warm fireplace.
Dick Mack’s in Dingle ranked 17th. This pub has a rich history, starting as a bar and leather shop in 1899. It’s known for its Guinness and extensive whiskey selection, along with traditional Irish music sessions.
The top spot this year went to La Fleur En Papier Doré in Brussels, recognized for its exceptional pub experience. You can find the full list of the top 100 bars on The European Bar Guide’s website.
