Storm Eowyn is on its way, and there’s a chance of tornadoes in the South West. Stay alert as severe weather warnings are issued for the region.
This alert warns of severe wind gusts and a few tornado events. Areas between London and Bristol are at risk, which could impact many people. There are also level one warnings for broader southern England up to Wales.
Last year’s mini tornado in Finham, Coventry, still haunts locals. Homeowner Kay Cooke remembers the fear when bricks fell from her roof. Another resident described how strong winds created a massive hole after a tree fell.
Kay feared for her conservatory, thinking the roof might collapse. Tomorrow’s tornado chance comes as Brits prepare for a “weather bomb.”
As Storm Eowyn approaches, it’s expected to cause widespread disruption. Wind speeds could reach up to 90mph in some areas.
Weather maps show severe conditions ahead, with heavy rain and strong winds expected. The Met Office warns that the worst weather will hit the south in the morning, with damaging winds continuing further north.
Amber wind warnings are in place from central Scotland to northern Wales and England, including all of Northern Ireland. Even those outside the worst-hit areas should be prepared for multiple yellow weather warnings.
Storm Eowyn will start affecting the UK from Thursday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The storm will also bring snow to parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and northern England.
