A suspicious object washed up on Brixham beach was safely detonated by authorities, ensuring public safety and preventing any potential hazards.
The Coastguard and police quickly set up a cordon to keep everyone safe. They figured out it was a pyrotechnic device used by submarines to signal their position.
Even though it was used, it could still be dangerous because of toxic fumes. So, an Explosive Ordinance Disposal team was called in to handle it.
They took the marker to Man Sands Beach and safely detonated it around 3:40 PM. The Coastguard even shared a video of the explosion on Facebook.
A spokesperson explained how they were alerted to the object and how the Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team worked with the police to manage the situation.
They reminded everyone to stay away from anything suspicious on the beach and to call 999 if they find something unusual. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
