Storm Eowyn is set to hit Ireland hard, prompting a nationwide Status Red warning and school closures across the country.
Dublin: Storm Eowyn is about to unleash its fury on Ireland. The whole country is under a Status Red wind warning starting Friday. This storm could be one of the worst we’ve ever faced.
Met Eireann has issued five Red wind alerts for all 26 counties. They’re warning us about gale-force winds that could hit over 130 km/h. That’s no joke!
Schools will close on Friday while the storm rages. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group advises everyone to stay indoors. If you can work from home, do it!
Only emergency workers should be out and about. Expect major disruptions to services and transport. Keith Leonard from the Emergency Group said this storm might leave more than 385,000 people without power, even more than Storm Ophelia back in 2017.
Here’s the breakdown of the Red alerts: Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, and several other counties will feel the impact first. The warnings kick in at different times, so keep an eye on the updates.
They’re also warning about dangerous travel conditions, fallen trees, and possible coastal flooding. It’s serious out there!
There’s also a Status Orange wind warning for the whole country and a Yellow rain warning for parts of the south. Stay safe and keep updated!
