A Spanish teacher in Dublin shares his experience of paying €800 for a tiny room, sparking surprise among viewers about the high cost of living in the city.
Dublin: A Spanish teacher named Álex recently shared his living situation on TikTok. He revealed he pays €800 a month for a small bedroom. His room includes just a bed and a wardrobe.
In his video, which got over 10,000 views, Álex seemed cheerful. He mentioned, “there are worse things” in life, but admitted his space is “very small.”
He pointed out that his room is close to the city center, which he appreciates. However, he also noted that his window faces the street, making privacy a concern.
Álex joked about needing to pull down his blinds for privacy. He misses having a desk, saying his life feels limited to just a bed.
While some viewers were shocked by the €800 rent, others said it’s normal for Dublin, especially in shared flats. In Spain, rent for a room averages €400 to €550.
In contrast, the average rent for a bedroom in Ireland is around €1,500, with Dublin prices nearing €2,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.
Álex encouraged his followers to visit Ireland but warned that finding a place to live can be tough. He explained that the demand is high, making it competitive.
