Hey, guess what happened? Revenue seized a lot of illegal stuff. It was worth about €500,000. This operation took place in several Irish counties.

They found illegal drugs and other items in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort. This happened over the past week. Detector dogs Ciara, Enzo, and Murphy did a great job helping to find the drugs!

Parcels from many countries contained these goods, including France, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, UK, Thailand, Spain, and India. The parcels were going to addresses all over the country.

The seized goods infringed on property rights, they said. Risk profiling led to these discoveries. They found 17.5kg of herbal cannabis, worth around €350,000, and over 1kg of amphetamine, with an estimated value of about €15,200.

Other illicit drugs worth over €20,000 were discovered, along with 40,680 cigarettes and tobacco valued at over €40,000. This represents a loss of €28,000 to the Exchequer fund. In addition, 77 fake items were seized, valued at almost €74,000.

Plus, they seized over 53 litres of alcohol worth €400, representing a potential €365 loss to the Exchequer fund. Two prohibited slingshot weapons were also seized.

A Revenue spokeswoman said investigations are underway, and these seizures are part of ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.

If anyone has information about smuggling, they can contact Revenue at 1800 295 295. All calls are confidential and private, she said.
