A shop called Mooch will close in Exeter. The store is in the Princesshay Shopping Centre. It will shut down after just over a year. The closing sale offers 20% off.

Mooch opened in September 2023. It replaced Paperchase, which closed.

Tesco bought Paperchase, but closed all its stores anyway. Eight hundred twenty jobs disappeared. Mooch sold similar items like cards and gifts.

There are 14 Mooch stores in the UK. Plymouth has a Mooch in Drakes Circus. Cardzone owns Mooch, plus other brands.

These brands include Yankee Candle and Hallmark. Cardzone even bought Clintons last year.

We do not know why Mooch is closing. The window sign simply says “stock must go”. DevonLive asked Princesshay about the closure. They want to know about a possible replacement.

Rosie Rose also recently closed. It only lasted four months. That store opened in July in the old Topshop space.

Frasers Group bought the shopping center. They own House of Fraser and Sports Direct.

They plan to improve Princesshay. Frasers Group mentioned tenant mix improvements last October.
