Tarka Leisure introduces Bump Boost, a personalized aqua natal workout for expectant mothers, promoting health and community support.
Barnstaple: Tarka Leisure is stepping up for expectant mums with a new program called Bump Boost. This is a personalized aqua natal workout that uses tech to help. It’s designed to make exercise easier and more enjoyable for pregnant women.
Even though the NHS suggests at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, a report shows that under 40% of pregnant women feel they can stay active. This highlights the need for tailored support to help them get moving at their own pace.
Bump Boost is a unique aqua natal exercise program that meets this need. It offers self-paced, personalized workouts. Using AI, it creates a program just for each mum, covering all 40 weeks of pregnancy. Classes are held in a friendly environment, and a specialist is there to guide them.
Ellie Wilson-Hird, the Fitness Manager at Tarka, says they’re focused on supporting community health. She emphasizes that swimming is great during pregnancy. The water helps with the extra weight, making it easier on the joints. Plus, it’s a full-body workout that prepares mums for birth.
Mums can join Bump Boost by self-referring or getting a referral from their healthcare provider. They’ll meet with a Tarka team member before their first session to register and get set up on the tablet.
A new evening class will start in February, every Thursday at 7 PM, along with existing classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Each class costs £6.50 and can be booked through the Leisure Centre App or online.
Every Friday at 10:30 AM, Tarka also hosts a free social session for all GoodBoost participants. This aims to create a supportive network for expecting mums in the community.
Suzanne Gabb from Good Boost expresses excitement about the Bump Boost launch. She highlights the importance of staying active during pregnancy for both physical and mental health. The goal is to make exercise accessible and enjoyable for all women.
Along with the classes, participants will receive a free guide with NHS tips for a healthy pregnancy. The launch of Bump Boost is just the beginning of expanding GoodBoost Aqua Natal sessions across the UK.
