Devon braces for Storm Eowyn with strong winds and potential disruptions ahead
Exeter: The Met Office has put out a yellow weather warning for Devon. Storm Eowyn is on its way, and it could cause quite a bit of trouble.
The warning is in effect from midnight until late Friday night. They’re expecting strong winds that could reach up to 70mph in coastal areas. That’s no joke!
Forecasters say buildings might get damaged. Roof tiles could be blown off, and power cuts are likely. Even phone services might be affected.
Travel could be a mess too. Roads, rail, air, and ferry services may face disruptions. Some roads and high bridges might even close.
There’s a real risk of injuries from flying debris. Large waves could also crash onto coastal roads and properties, so it’s best to stay safe.
Today’s weather starts chilly with some frost in rural areas. But it should clear up a bit, giving way to a dry day with some sunshine.
Tonight, expect more clouds and some fog on higher ground. Scattered showers will linger along the south coast, moving slowly north.
Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will bring persistent rain and strong winds. Saturday might see some blustery showers, but there could be brighter moments too.
