Exeter: The Met Office has just dropped two new weather warnings for the South West. This weekend, we’re looking at yellow warnings for rain and wind.

The wind warning kicks in Sunday morning and lasts until the afternoon. The rain warning starts at the same time and goes until early Monday. They’re saying heavy rain could lead to local flooding.

Expect a lot of rain, especially in central and southern England and Wales. They’re predicting 10-20 mm of rain, with some areas possibly getting up to 50 mm. That’s a lot!

And if that wasn’t enough, there might be even more heavy rain Sunday evening. Some places could see a total of 80 mm. With all the rain we’ve had lately, this could cause some serious flooding.

So, what should you be ready for? There’s a chance of power cuts and some homes might get flooded. This could also mess with train and bus services.

Driving could be tricky too, with spray and flooding making roads dangerous. And there’s a slight chance of fast-moving floodwater, which is no joke.

These warnings come right after Storm Eowyn hit us with strong winds and rain. The South West has been dealing with weather warnings all day.

Forecasters are saying to be careful, especially on Friday when the storm arrives. It’s been a wild change in the weather lately, thanks to a powerful jet stream.

Coastal areas are under a yellow warning for wind, and some routes might see big waves. The worst winds are expected on Friday, with rain and even snow in some places.

Gusts could reach up to 90 mph in exposed areas, while inland winds will be around 60 to 70 mph. It’s going to be a rough ride!

The Met Office is advising everyone to secure loose items outside. Flying debris could be dangerous. They’re taking this storm seriously, and so should we!
