Dublin: Exciting news for Terenure! A new housing project is on the horizon. The old junior school lands are getting a makeover. The Carmelite Order and Terenure College own the land. They’ve decided it’s time to put it to good use.

This development will bring 284 new homes. It includes 19 houses and 265 apartments. The apartments will be up to six stories tall. The houses will have four bedrooms and will be two to three stories high.

There’s a mix of apartments too. You’ll find studios, one-bed, two-bed, and even a few three-bed units. The Carmelite Order is on board with this plan. They believe it will help secure the future of Terenure College.

Fr. Simon Nolan from the Carmelite Order shared that this project will boost the college’s finances. It will also support their work in Ireland and beyond. Plus, there’s enough land left for the school to grow.

They’re also planning a creche and a community arts space. Upgrades to Fortfield Road and College Drive are in the works too. They’ll create a new junction to improve traffic flow.

For parking, there will be 165 spaces for residents. And if you’re a cyclist, there will be 633 bike spaces available. A previous, larger plan for this site didn’t get approved, but this one is moving forward.

People can share their thoughts on the application until January 31. The decision date is still pending. If you want to comment on the junction changes, you have until January 20.
