Exeter: The club captain, Pierce Sweeney, is feeling optimistic. He knows the team needs to bounce back in League One. They have a big FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest coming up, but they can’t ignore their league position.

Sweeney wrote this before their game against Peterborough, which ended in a draw. He hopes they can grab some points from their upcoming home games against Blackpool and Leyton Orient.

Lately, the team has faced tough losses, including a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham. They’ve lost three in a row, but Sweeney believes they can turn things around. He thinks a little improvement could lead to some wins.

He shared that he watched the Birmingham game with teammate Jay Stansfield’s family. It was a bit odd being in enemy territory, but he felt the love for Exeter from those around him. The team struggled to create chances, but they did manage to frustrate Birmingham for a while.

With injuries affecting their defense, Sweeney felt they did well considering the circumstances. They almost secured a point but let it slip in injury time.

The game took a scary turn when Vinny Harper was injured in a clash of heads. Thankfully, he was okay after a hospital check-up, but he’ll miss a couple of games due to concussion protocols.

Jack McMillan got a red card late in the game, which Sweeney thought was a bit harsh. He felt players should get some leeway after such a long match, especially after a teammate’s injury.

Despite the losses, Sweeney appreciated the nearly 2,000 fans who traveled to support the team. They were disappointed not to give the fans more to cheer about.

The team recently lost Tristan Crama, who was recalled by Brentford. Sweeney was sad to see him go, as he was a standout player. Crama has now joined Millwall, and Sweeney believes he’ll do well there.

They also said goodbye to Mustapha Carayol and Amani Richards. Carayol was a great addition but had to leave for personal reasons. Richards had a mixed loan spell but has potential for the future.

Looking ahead, Exeter is eager for their next matches. They want to make up for a previous loss to Blackpool and face a tough Leyton Orient team. But Sweeney is hopeful they can pull off a win at home.
