Hull City Council proposes a 4.99% council tax rise for 2025/26, including funds for services and social care.
Band A properties may pay about £1,189 yearly, excluding police and fire service fees. This means a rise of just over £56 each year. Band D residents could pay almost £85 more a year, marking the largest rise before needing a local vote.
The council will discuss these plans on February 27. They plan to spend £31.3m to support Hull’s bridges, £22.6m to fix roads and potholes and allocate £2.7m to resurface footpaths. Additionally, they budget £3.6m for Costello playing field and plan £300,000 for new park equipment.
The council proposes other spending measures as well. They plan roughly £1,500,000 for waste collection services and £200,000 to tackle tree maintenance. They also budget £50,000 extra to keep bulky item collections free and £1,000,000 for solar panels.
Furthermore, they plan £100,000 for new CCTV equipment and are going to use £242,000 to create more pocket parks. The investment aims to improve the city.
