A man was arrested after threatening a garda with a gun during a robbery in Kilmainham, highlighting the bravery of the officers involved.
Kilmainham: A man was arrested after a wild robbery attempt. It happened just before 7 PM when he stormed into a shop, masked and armed. He demanded cash from the staff, not realizing two plainclothes gardai were there.
The officers, a man and a woman, were unarmed. When the male garda noticed the situation, he stepped up to confront the robber. Things got tense when the masked man threatened him with the gun.
A struggle broke out, and the female garda jumped in to help. They managed to disarm and restrain the guy. A bystander also pitched in, which was great to see.
More gardai arrived quickly, and the man was arrested. He’s in his 40s and is now being held at a Dublin station. The police believe the gun was a replica, and they’re checking it out.
Both officers are getting support from their team. It’s a reminder of the risks they take every day.
