Exeter: A new project is inviting people to share their memories from the pandemic. It’s a chance to reflect on how COVID-19 changed our lives.

They’re creating an audiobook to mark five years since the lockdown began. This will capture both the tough times and the lighter moments we all experienced.

Everyone can contribute anonymously. You can share your thoughts on loss, humor, or even the amazing work of emergency workers. It’s all about remembering together.

Some of these memories will be part of a ceremony this spring at the city’s COVID memorial. The Lord Mayor will lead this special event in Northernhay Gardens.

Professor David Tollerton from the University of Exeter is organizing the audiobook. He wants to help the community reflect on the pandemic’s impact.

He mentioned that everyone felt the pandemic differently. This project is a way for people to share their unique experiences, whether they’re sad or funny.

To contribute, just start your memory with “I remember.” It can be about anything from lockdown to the kindness of neighbors or the hard work of NHS staff.

Remember, only first names should be used, and it’s completely anonymous. You can share up to 50 words, and the deadline is January 31.

Selected memories will be featured in an online audiobook, set to launch in March 2025, marking five years since the first lockdown.
