Bideford: A big fight broke out between a drunken crowd and police. This happened at Bideford Quay. Police reported that about 15 people were involved in the chaos. They were called around 10 PM on Friday, January 24.

Officers were first alerted to anti-social behavior at 10:10 PM. A group of seven people became aggressive when asked to leave. Things escalated outside the Kings Arms pub, where police detained a man for being drunk and disorderly.

Some people tried to stop the arrest and attacked the officers. Four officers faced physical and verbal assaults during the incident. Thankfully, members of the public and door staff stepped in to help the police.

None of the officers were seriously hurt. Two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man from Bideford were arrested. A 17-year-old girl from Barnstaple was also taken into custody. They face charges related to affray and assaulting emergency workers.

A 21-year-old man from Appledore was arrested for being drunk and disorderly. He has been released on bail until March 30. Police are asking anyone who saw the fight to come forward.

Chief Superintendent Dan Evans emphasized that violence against police will not be tolerated. He urged anyone with video footage to share it for the investigation.
