A man was brutally attacked in Exmouth by two men over a neighbour dispute, leaving him with severe injuries and a lifetime of scars.
Exmouth: A man was attacked in his flat by two men, Gregory Barnard and Leon Dennis. They broke in and beat him badly, using fists and furniture pieces.
The attack was brutal. They tied his legs and dragged him down the stairs. It lasted over an hour, and he was left semi-conscious when a passerby found him.
The fight started because of a dispute between the victim and Barnard’s grandmother. Barnard had previously threatened the victim through a window.
Judge David Evans called the attack premeditated and merciless. Barnard and Dennis, both 24, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and received seven and a half years in prison.
The incident happened on October 11 last year. The victim spent 15 days in the hospital with multiple fractures and permanent injuries.
Now, he struggles with flashbacks and fears returning to the area. Barnard and Dennis expressed remorse, but the damage is done.
