A bus fire on the A30 caused significant damage, leading to lane closures and traffic delays. Emergency services responded quickly to the incident.
Launceston: Traffic is slow on the A30 after a bus fire caused serious damage. Emergency services arrived at the scene between Broadwoodwidger and Sourton Cross around 7:30 PM yesterday.
Photos show the burnt bus being towed away. The intense heat melted parts of the road, making it unsafe. Repairs are needed before the road can reopen.
Both sides of the dual carriageway were closed initially. The westbound side is now open, but the eastbound lane where the fire started is still shut for repairs.
The bus’s remains have been removed, but delays continue due to the lane closure. National Highways is assessing the road for damage today.
It’s unclear when the closed lane will reopen. Drivers should be cautious in the area. Details about the bus involved are still not confirmed.
National Highways: South West tweeted that lane one remains closed for assessment, but no delays are reported on approach.
