A 15-year-old boy from Dublin faces serious charges after an attack at a Dart station. The case is part of a complex investigation into anti-social behavior.
The boy, whose name is not revealed, was arrested for assaulting a man at Raheny Dart station. This happened on December 5. He was caught during a police operation aimed at reducing anti-social behavior in the area.
In court, the boy didn’t say anything when charged. His mother was there to support him. The defense lawyer said it was his first time in court, and he found it overwhelming.
The police asked for more time to investigate. They want to see if others will also be charged. The judge noted that the incident started away from the station but ended there.
Bail was granted with conditions. He must stay away from train stations and can only travel on Irish rail with an adult. He also has a curfew from 9 PM to 7 AM. The judge didn’t agree to limit him from being in groups, as he is still in school.
The boy understood the bail terms and knows he could go to custody if he breaks them. The case will continue in May. Three other boys arrested in the same operation have been released and will be referred to a youth program.
