Where the tools go

We send completed toolkits to the TFSR national headquarters in Southampton. There they are loaded into containers and shipped to partner-organisations in Africa. They are best placed to know the needs of the local communities and they can ensure that the tools go to the right people.

The kits are sent to help groups of artisans struggling to make a living for themselves and their families by making products needed by their local communities. They give people a chance they never had – the skills and tools to get them out of poverty and into work – the ability to be self-reliant.

TFSR(MK) began in 1989. Since then we have completed over 740 kits, totalling over 50,000 tools! They have gone to recipients in fifteen different countries including Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Malawi, and Zambia.

Our kits come in many forms.  For example, they may be for carpentry or for sewing, for blacksmiths or mechanics, etc.
